Insight Global is seeking a Principle Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) for our client, a high-growth technology company, building the next generation of instant communications, imaging and remote sensing infrastructure through stratospheric platforms. This engineer will establish and institutionalize the company's MBSE processes in support of 2026 systems engineering KPIs. This role is being hired specifically to build MBSE capabilities from the ground up, and therefore requires a candidate with a strong, hands-on MBSE background and demonstrated experience implementing MBSE frameworks in complex aerospace environments. Responsibilities include:

• Design, implement, and mature Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) processes and framework from the ground up

• Establish system architecture models and modeling strategies aligned with program requirements, verification plans, and certification objectives

• Define MBSE governance, modeling standards, configuration management practices, and tool usage across engineering teams

• Develop and maintain SysML-based system models to support requirements traceability, functional decomposition, interfaces, and system behavior

• Integrate MBSE practices across systems, software, hardware, avionics, operations, test, and certification functions

• Support technical trade studies, design decisions, and risk mitigation through model-driven analysis

• Ensure system models effectively support regulatory compliance and certification activities

• Mentor and train engineers on MBSE tools, methodologies, and disciplined modeling practices

• Act as an MBSE subject matter expert and champion adoption across the organization

• Align MBSE deliverables with program schedules, technical baselines, and 2026 systems engineering KPIs

• Continuously evaluate and improve MBSE processes to support scalability and future programs

Skills and Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in systems engineering with 3+ years specifically in MBSE implementation

• Advanced-level proficiency with MBSE tools (SysML, Cameo Systems Modeler, MagicDraw, or equivalent)

• Experience establishing system architecture and model governance processes from the ground up

• Deep knowledge of aerospace system development lifecycles, including certification and regulatory compliance

• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers in MBSE processes

• Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical field - Experience architecting systems for novel or first-of-kind aerospace platforms

• Background in lighter-than-air systems, high-altitude platforms, stratospheric operations, or unmanned systems

• Previous startup or scale-up company experience, particularly in aerospace
