We have a permanent position in in Baltimore MD for a PostgreSQL DBA - 2-3 days/week onsite and rest remote work. Due to the nature of the work, you must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder to apply and be able to get a public trust clearance AFTER you start. If interested, let me know.
Key Responsibilities
Stand up, configure, and manage PostgreSQL databases on large-scale systems running on AWS.
Optimize performance for extra-large PostgreSQL databases (20+ TB) and very large tables (10+ billion rows).
Design and tune heavy-load batch processing workflows.
Implement and maintain database partitioning strategies.
Identify and troubleshoot database performance issues using advanced diagnostic tools.
Collaborate with application developers to optimize application database interactions.
Configure and monitor AWS DMS replication from PostgreSQL to Redshift.
Manage Redshift databases and optimize performance for analytics workloads.
Ensure high availability, backup/restore, and disaster recovery strategies for PostgreSQL clusters.
Required Qualifications (Must Haves)
5+ years of hands-on experience with PostgreSQL on AWS.
Experience with PostgreSQL version 14+.
Prior experience with heavy-load batch processing.
Expertise in tuning PostgreSQL queries and stored procedures.
Experience managing databases with 20+ TB of data and tables with 10+ billion rows.
Experience with AWS DMS replication from PostgreSQL to Redshift.
Experience with Redshift databases.
Ability to work onsite at CGI Baltimore office 2 3 times per week.
Expertise in database partitioning and lifecycle management.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Aurora PostgreSQL or RDS PostgreSQL.
Knowledge of pgBouncer/pgpool and logical/physical replication.
Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform/CloudFormation).
Experience with monitoring tools and cost optimization on AWS.
