REPORTS TO: Director of School Program
HOURS/STATUS: Part-Time – Exempt, 3 Days/Week, 2-Week Break Prior to ESY
START DATE: June 2024
SALARY RANGE: $27.85 – $33.05 per hour
TES Staffing is partnering with a small private school in Rochester that specializes in providing special education to school-aged children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The school’s mission is to help students achieve maximum independence and integration into the community through individualized programs and services.
We are seeking a dedicated Music Therapist to join our team. Under the guidance and collaboration of the Director of the School Program, this individual will provide music therapy services to students, supporting their IEP goals while fostering emotional, cognitive, and social development.
Plan, schedule, and deliver music therapy programs for individuals and groups as outlined in each student’s IEP.
Act as a resource for teachers regarding music therapy strategies and integration into the classroom.
Evaluate student progress and assess skills, documenting progress toward IEP goals.
Complete required paperwork promptly, including CSE documentation, evaluations, and annual summaries.
Maintain and organize music therapy instruments, equipment, and supplies.
Understand and address the psychological, medical, and developmental needs of the children served.
Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, in-service trainings, and professional development sessions.
Complete Safety Care training, recertification, and refresher courses as required.
Provide consultation to parents about music therapy upon request.
As needed, lead non-music therapy activities for students in structured group settings.
Build and maintain trusting, respectful relationships with students, families, colleagues, and community partners.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Proficiency in playing piano and other instruments.
Strong communication skills (verbal and written), problem-solving abilities, and organizational skills.
Demonstrated commitment to continuous personal and professional development.
Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities.
Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy.
Current MT-BC certification (or must obtain certification by the start date).
Two or more years of relevant experience preferred.
Computer literacy and the ability to communicate respectfully, honestly, and openly.
