Blueprint Reader & Estimator — Commercial Painting

As our company expands, we are seeking a skilled Blueprint Reader & Estimator to support our growing volume of painting commercial projects.

Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced, detail-oriented estimator to interpret blueprints, perform material and labor takeoffs, and prepare competitive proposals for commercial painting work. This role directly supports Alb Painting’s continued growth throughout Michigan.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret architectural blueprints and project specifications
• Perform accurate material and labor takeoffs for commercial painting projects
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors
• Develop clear and professional bid proposals
• Communicate with general contractors, vendors, and clients
• Maintain organized estimating documentation and pricing records
• Work with project managers to ensure accurate scope and scheduling
• Use spreadsheet or estimating software (Excel, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, etc.)

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of construction estimating experience
• Strong blueprint reading and takeoff skills
• Experience estimating commercial painting projects (a must)
• Proficiency with spreadsheets or estimating software
• Strong math and analytical skills
• Highly organized, accurate, and professional
• Strong communication skills

Compensation

• Up to $70,000 per year, based on experience, accuracy, and productivity
